September Kids Photo Special!

In the past year I started taking photographs of kids, something that I never had dreamt I would do, but actually really enjoy.  The response to those images has been wonderful – who doesn’t love young children’s beautiful faces and their true uninhibited expressions.  I for one find them priceless!
Now you have the opportunity to have your Child, your Grand Child, Nephew or Niece photographed in this same fashion.  It’s not your average photo, in fact it requires a complicated lighting setup that you wont find in the “normal” baby photo studios.  They truly have a life like feel..
So for the month of  September I am offering a Kids Photo Special..
Please e-mail me for full details at info@studio80s.com    Book before the 10th of Sept and get extra retouched 8×10 for free.
I look forward to meet new little faces :)
All the best,
Eydis

Didn’t even know it!

I used to shop at Calumet Photographic when I lived in NY but now I just receive their mailing list every week.  What I like about their mailing list is that they have great product information and features like the Photographers Spotlight and Photo of the Week
Photo of the Week started in October of 2006, but I didn’t catch on until Jan of 2007 when I sent in my first image and it got selected!  Since then I have submitted 8 images all together,  3 making the cut.  However I just stumbled up on my submission from last year…and not only did the image get chosen as the Photo of the Week, but was also feature on their blog a few weeks later…
and I didn’t even know it!
What I didn’t realize is that they have  a UK site, and for some reason this last image ended up there….So now it’s 4 out of 8…not bad!

Compassionate Eye Foundation Photo-Shoot

Here’s a sampling of the work I for did for Compassionate Eye Foundation
Stylist Joanna Kulpa and fabulous kids… all for a great cause

Is there a young child in your family?

Compassionate Eye Foundation has been teaming up with photographers and creative people since 2005 in creating images that are sold via Getty Images with the proceeds going to CEF. This  year I am proud to have the opportunity to team up with them.  *(please see below)

For my project I chose to photograph kids, which should be fun and challenging at the same time. I have had a wonderful experience with photographing kids in the recent past, capturing their essence, their innocence and spontaneity.   See images of kids below and on my website

In order for me to pull this photo-shoot off, I’m going to need help, and that’s where you come into play.  I need kids to participate. …..young little models, ranging from ages of 1 to 6 who like to have their picture  taken.  Any Ethnicity -  Variety is great!

Photo-shoot will take place on Saturday July 24th.   Each child for about  30-45min.

If you and your child are interested in donating your time to this great cause contact me directly at:  eydis@studio80s.com

*About Compassionate Eye Foundation

Compassionate Eye Foundation (www.compassionateeye.org) is an innovative non-profit organization founded on the principle that creative people as a community could and want to make a positive difference in the world. It is our belief that education is the cornerstone of change. It is through promoting education, that we plan to help developing communities around the world become sustainable and healthy.

Summer Solstice Shoots

Each summer, photographers and their crews around the world, donate their time on photo shoots where the royalty revenues generated through image licensing at Getty Images are donated to CEF.

Looking for Models!

CEF is always on the lookout for models to donate time on shoots, which is a valuable component to the success of CEF. All participating models will receive images from the shoot to use for their portfolios.

Images from the shoots are licensed through Getty Images, so the models must be aware that they will need to sign a model release and their images could end up on a billboard, TV or other media. All models are protected by Getty Images licensing agreement that prevents defamatory usage of an image. This is an opportunity for models to contribute their skills to support communities around the world.

The boys are here!

I had the pleasure of photographing Alasdair again last month, previously in my studio last fall at the tender age of 8.5 months.   This time he brought along a friend, Zion, who is just as adorable. I’ll let the images speak for themselves. These images are pretty much straight out of the camera..no trickery yet!

See two of my favourites at my website – where young Alisdair has two images from each session with a very similar expression and pose – amazing luck on my part….

Pulling faces 2

This time around it was Mark Pennington who pulled faces for me.  A former professional soccer player from England, now coaching soccer in the lower mainland,  pulling these faces probably wasn’t that much of a stretch.  On top of coaching Mark does some acting and modeling with Marcia Simpson’s Vancouver Lifestyles Modeling Agency which has a roster of great people.  Many thanks to you both.

Pulling faces

Personalities are fast becoming one of my favourite shoots, especially when the subject is comfortable in his/her own skin, ready to be silly and just have a good time.  Bob Mercer, former Editor/Owner of VLM Magazine, was no exception, in fact he is my favourite subject to date.  Here’s a look at 3 contact sheets from that session.
